Natural colored gemstones commonly contain inclusions, and salt & pepper diamonds are selected for their visible inclusions specifically. Most inclusions are stable, but heavily included stones, especially those with feathers or surface-reaching inclusions, may be more vulnerable to chipping, cracking, or breaking from impact. To help protect them, remove your jewelry during heavy work, exercise, cleaning, lifting, or any activity where the stone may be struck.
